Obama, Rihanna, and International Relations

I'm sure you all give a hoot about my opinion on these topics, so here they are.

Ok so the new complaint about President Obama is that he's trying to do too much too early. Will you people ever be satisfied?! If he wasn't you'd all be complaining that he wasn't doing enough.
People are criticizing Pres. Obama's decision to focus not only on the economy, but also on healthcare. I completely agree with his statement that helping the healthcare system will help the economy. All the people who are unemployed are also uninsured, so they can't go to hospitals, so hospitals can't afford to hire nurses and doctors. The uninsured have to travel to India and Mexico to receive cheap hospital care. Giving everyone insurance will bring more jobs back to hospitals.

So Chris Brown. Wow. What a douchebaggins. I hope that he gets the absolute maximum punishment and that Rihanna never speaks to him again. It's not going to happen, but I can wish for it. I've heard on the news that she took him back. It's mean, but in my opinion, she stopped being the victim the moment she let him back into her life. I'm disgusted by all of both her and Chris Brown's people for allowing this behavior to happen and to not do something about it as well.

In completely unrelated news, I am now registered in Troy University's Master's in International Relations. Wahoo!! My first class is going to be International Political Economy. Yikes! I've been researching and it's going to be a really tough class. But it's one of the requirements for the degree, so hopefully I'll do good.

Also, I saw 2 movies recently that I must recommend. First is Slumdog Millionaire. I just have to jump on the bandwagon. This movie is amazing. It deserved every single Oscar it won. It was movie magic at its finest. The second is a movie that no one even noticed in 2006 when it first came out. It's called The Fall. I don't even know how to describe the plot, but it's absolutely brilliant. The settings and scenery are gorgeous and majestic. The characters are vulnerable and both human and super-human. I highly recommend it. I think it'll end up a new classic.

That's all I've got for now. Ta.

Oh wait, one more thing. The latest episode of Heroes. When Sylar cried out "Mommy?", I thought I was going to die. I love that character so much.

My Thoughts

OPINION TIME!

Ok, so I have some thoughts about some things that are currently going on in the world. So in no particular order, here goes.

Blagojevich and Roland Burris:

Blagojevich is acting like a spoiled little kid who just got caught doing something he wasn't supposed to. And now that he's caught, instead of owning up to what he's done and accepting the punishment, he's going out of his way to do everything he can before he gets grounded.

And Roland Burris. He may be the best bet to be the new senator, but why in the hell would you want to become senator under those conditions? Just wait until everything is settled and then go to DC and get sworn in. This morning they said on the news that he's on his way cuz he's expecting to be sworn in tomorrow. So doing the right thing isn't important? Just as long as you're the senator? Again, spoiled little kids throwing temper tantrums when things don't go their way.

Obama's CIA Head Choice:

So future Pres. Obama has most likely chosen Leon Panetta as his choice for the new head of the CIA. And Sen. Dianne Feinstein isn't too happy about it. Apparently, while the two are good friends, she doesn't feel that he has the experience necessary to become head of the CIA. What's she's most angry about though, is the fact that she wasn't informed about this ahead of time. HE'S ABOUT TO BE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES LADY, HE DOESN'T HAVE TO TELL YOU ANYTHING. So get off your high horse, and get over it. So it's not who you'd have chosen. I'm sorry, but deal with it. Someday, you can run for president and then you can decide who is going to be head of the CIA.

Israel and Gaza:

I understand Hamas has been firing rockets over "the wall" into Israel for a while now, and eventually Israel was going to have to fight back, but don't you think this is a little extreme? Even for Israel? Imagine my arms spread wide apart, as if I'm about to give you a hug. This is the size of Israel. Now imagine my thumb and pointer finger making an O. This is the size of Gaza. It's like the big bully on the school ground kicking the crap out of the smallest kid in the class because the small kid finally had the guts to stand up for himself. I apologize for using two analogies in a row, but this is how I think.

My Conclusion:

Everyone needs to stop acting like a bunch of kids on the schoolground and grow the heck up.

Simple Plan

So I bought Simple Plan's new CD a few days ago. I put new in italics, because I think it came out a while ago, but I just got it. I planned on buying 3 CD's: SP, The Knux, and Fall Out Boy, but being that I'm shopping at the PX (Post Exchange) in Korea, we don't have the greatest selection. So all I got was Simple Plan.

Anywho, so I'm sitting on my bed, reading, with the new SP playing. It gets to track 4 and I'm just humming along and all of a sudden, I hear Pierre Bouvier, the lead singer say *expletive alert* "Do you think about me when he fucks you?" I about died. They grew up so fast! I tell you, the band members must have gone through a lot of heartbreak since the last CD because almost every song is about a girl.

Overall, it's a good CD. I'd say it's less "pop" than the last. Definately less of those "get stuck in your head all day" kind of songs. But I liked it.

Also, listen to the song by The Knux called "Bang Bang". I love it!

Notes from Work

Well, I am writing from work, again. I'm in the process of saving up to buy this awesome laptop I saw at the Electronics Market downtown, but I'm only halfway there. It's a giant pain waiting, but it'll be worth it.

So today, I watched an episode of Heroes for the first time in over a year. I've been in training for the Army for that long. And well, I gotta say, I was sort of let down. It just didn't have enough oomph. There was I think I little too much going on, and I don't understand why there has to be a new character every 4 seconds. The newest character is Daphne, and while she's cool and I understand Matt needs a love interest, I don't understand why she's needed. BTW, here in Korea, the AFN (Armed Forces Network) is like 3 or 4 episodes behind the states. So while I know what's going on in real time thanks to the crazies over at televisionwithoutpity.com, I haven't actually seen the latest episodes. Sylar is currently in an area of gray over whether or not he's evil. And frankly I don't like it. Why can't a bad guy just be a bad guy?

Speaking of which, Ian, my bf, did an impression of Sylar the other night and I almost died. It was spot on. We were discussing what powers we'd have and somehow we got onto how he would steal my power, whatever it was. I said I'd have the power to turn Sylar good, and Ian asked how. I said "with the power of love" and apparently I said it dripping with sweetness because Ian, in his Sylar voice, said "More like the power to make people vomit." I'd never heard the Sylar voice before, but I think it's my new favorite. Well, next to the regular Ian voice and the Vin Diesel voice that he refuses to do anymore because I like it too much.

So, I'm currently obsessed with http://www.goodreads.com. I did the "Official Fall Challenge" as part of the "Next Best Book" group and it was tons of fun. I've decided to do the "Official Winter Challenge" as well as challenging myself to read I think, 200 books next year. I didn't even make 100 this year, but that was barely trying. So I think I'll be ok.

About my book. I'm having trouble with it. It's like I just can't make myself sit down and write. I think of every little excuse not to do it. I'm not sure what that's about.

C'est moi.

All right, so I've decided to join the millions of people all over the world with a blog. I'm not sure if I have anything worth sharing but I shall try to amuse you all. Here's a list of things I'll probably blog about....

1. The US Army (seeing as how I'm in it)
2. South Korea (where I'm currently stationed)
3. Books (I looooove to read)
4. My book (I'm trying to write a novel)
5. My family (oh, it's a crazy one)
6. Financial stuff (Learning to invest and trying to learn how to manage my money)
7. Movies (I love a great movie)
8. Music (I'm sort of known for being in love with a band forever and then all of a sudden, they're the "next big thing", and I think I have good taste in music)
9. Crafts (I'm big into crafting and making things out of random stuff)
10. Learning (I'm pretty much determined to learn everything about everything)

Well, I can't think of much else, but I'm sure there'll be more.
